Secret Canyon

Our friends, Ben & Marcie, discovered that not all wilderness adventures require camping. Some really challenging hikes can be found within a few miles of the hotels and casinos of Laughlin. Thirteen of us (no one under 50 or over 76!) recently followed them on an 11-mile trek through Secret Canyon.

The good news is that it was (almost) all downhill.
The bad news is that we had to climb (or chimney) down a lot of it; some of us more nimbly than others..

Our route took us through a narrow canyon past arches and other landmarks like Turtle Head Rock. While the huge rocks were pretty awsome, they did dictate a more convoluted route.

We were "lucky" enough to be hiking after one of the area's infrequent rainfalls, and the resulting water problems (falling in quicksand or sitting in slime!) made our trip all the more interesting.
