he made himself right at home and converted everything he found into a toy .
We went for an outing in the desert 
,
and the first thing he had to learn was not to touch the rattlesnakes 
.
We even practiced saying 
"no-no, snake".
The desert here is covered with "swiss cheese" rocks
that are a terrific natural playground 
for a kid his size. Sometimes it's a little tricky to get in 
,
but there's plenty of room inside 
.
We had to be careful not to get in too far 
because the exit holes 
are not always the right size!
