To orient you on the map, our actual route (in and out) is represented by the black line in the southern half of the loop. Our planned return route is the dotted red line in the northern half of the loop. We started at Whitney Pocket (in the upper left), toured the mine (at the green dot on the right); and got turned around in Grand Gulch Canyon (see marker a short distance above the mine).
Note: There is not a single person living anywhere in the area covered by the map, and cellphone coverage is absolutely nonexistent in that area.
